How to Clean Your Dekton
Dekton is extremely durable and requires very little maintenance, and if properly cared for, it will look good for many years:
Day to Day Cleaning: Simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth using a mild dish soap and water. Steel wool, cleaning pads with abrasives, alkaline scourers, and harsh chemical cleaners should be avoided.
Stain Removal: For stubborn stains, take a gentle cleaner that lifts the marks without scratching. For more stubborn stains, use a paste made from baking soda and water.
Protection from Heat: Dekton can withstand inclement heat. The use of trivets or heat mats under any hot pots and pans will further help to avoid thermal shock.
Protection from Scratches:Dekton is also impact resistant, and while the surface can be sliced against, always use a cutting board while chopping. This protects the surface from scratches and helps to maintain a better finish.
Chemicals:You should not use bleach or oven cleaners, or any chemicals that contain abrasives or acidic conditioners as they will not cause permanent damage.
How Dekton is Made
Dekton is made through a special process that combines the raw materials associated with glass, porcelain and quartz surfaces. The main steps of Dekton’s manufacturing include the following:
Raw material selection: The different glasses, quartz and porcelain are selected, screened and measured carefully.
Sintering and Compaction: The blended material is subjected to high pressures that create a solid ultra-compact surface.
High temperature firing: The material is then fired in a kiln at temperatures hotter than 1200 °C, fusing the particles into a solid non-porous slab.
Cooling and Finishing: After being fired, slabs are cooled for long periods of time to prevent thermal shock from occurring, then polished or textured for the final finish.
Quality Control: Each slab is tested and evaluated for strength, performance and appearance to be sure it meets the Dekton standard of quality.
